Why no one who knows anything likes G4

G4's trouble began a while ago when they merged with TechTV. I actually liked the channel for a short time, just after the merger and before they fired Kevin Rose (you know, the guy who went on to make little known sites like digg.com. In this period my favorite show was then known as The Screen Savers. I enjoyed the show because it was the first television show I had seen aimed for "techies." Instead of segments on how to turn on a computer, it had reviews of new hardware and the lower level technical calls were on whether to go with a lower RPM, but denser HDD or a higher RPM but lower capacity HDD. Hell, TSS was how I first learned about FireFox, back in the pre-1.0 days.

Nowadays, that is gone. Turn on G4 today and you'll probably get nothing about technology, or even video games. You'll have pro-wrestling or some Japanese obstacle course. Here's the schedule on G4 as I'm writing this article:

Yeah... that's unique.. What was once a good source for technical news and discussion is now... Spike... At least they still have XPlay and AOTS (what was once The Screen Savers before they fired anyone who knew anything and appealed a different part of the average male). And it's not like the technical side is gone completely... right?

4Chan is now the hang-out for hackers? That's news to me. I always thought 4chan was where people went when they wanted child porn, gore, cheap laughs, adolescent insults, overdone MEMES, and the occasional trolling. But I guess I was wrong because if the almighty G4 says it's true, by god it must be true! Nevermind the huge distinction that has been made between white hat and black hat hacking, the difference between hacking and cracking, or who &quote;hackers&quote; grow up to be. Nope, a bunch of script kiddies run an auto-voting program to make Moot the most influential person on a relatively insecure poll and 4chan becomes a hacker haven.

In case you don't know, let me explain to you what a script kiddie is, a script kiddie is a person who in a bid for some attention, finds a program usually made by a black hat hacker and without any care as to how or why it works, uses to excess. These methods while disgusting, are inarguably effective and are all-in-all very easy to do.

So G4, please either learn a few basic lessons or just go die
